About HEMAC Aesthetic & Skin

Dr Sherrie Chew
& The HEMAC Story

Doctor-led aesthetic medicine — founded on a vision to deliver safe, evidence-based skin treatments in the heart of Hawthorn East.

Meet the Founder

Dr Sherrie Chew

Dr Sherrie Chew is a qualified and experienced doctor in Aesthetic Medicine under the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and a member of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery & Medicine. Sherrie graduated in 2002 from the University of Tasmania and trained in capital city major hospitals across Australia.

Procedural dermatology is her main focus and passion. She has worked alongside an experienced dermatologist who is a pioneer in introducing laser for skin conditions in Victoria, and alongside cosmetic and plastic surgeons — continuously searching for optimal treatments to achieve the best outcome for each patient.

Having worked in busy clinical environments, Dr Sherrie has extensive experience treating most skin conditions across all skin types. In pursuing her passion, she established HEMAC with a vision to provide individualised, formulated treatment plans — delivering more youthful, clear, and healthier skin using the latest technology laser machines, with minimal recovery and downtime.

Dr Sherrie is also a dedicated patient herself when it comes to treating her own skin conditions, which keeps her continually searching for better and newer ways to improve outcomes for her patients. She regularly updates her skills through training and international conferences.

Our Approach

Evidence-Based & Consultation-First

At HEMAC Aesthetic & Skin, our focus is on providing safe, evidence-based treatments to support healthy skin and natural results. Every treatment begins with a thorough consultation to understand your skin's needs and goals — we do not take a one-size-fits-all approach.

Inclusive Care

Welcoming All Skin Types & Tones

We welcome patients of all skin types and are experienced in caring for diverse and darker skin tones. Our approach is consultation-led and medically guided. HEMAC is a proudly LGBTQI+ welcoming clinic where every patient receives care without judgement.

Hawthorn East · Since 1889

Behind the Heritage Door

HEMAC occupies the first floor of one of Hawthorn East's most recognisable heritage corner buildings — the A.U. 1889 structure at 663 Burwood Road. Ground-floor windows carry the clinic's treatment list in the original spirit of the building: honest, direct, permanent.

Inside, the aesthetic clinic is modern, purpose-built, and calm — the right setting for a consultation where someone qualified tells you the truth about your skin. Located less than 20 minutes from the Melbourne CBD, and easily accessible from Kew, Camberwell, Balwyn, Box Hill, Doncaster, and surrounds.

As seen in Vogue — a soft credibility cue visible in our treatment rooms, alongside the PICOCARE 450 and the careful hands of our clinical team.

The HEMAC Family

General Practice & Allied Health

Hawthorn East Medical & Aesthetic Clinic (HEMAC) combines the expertise of a general-practice medical clinic with the services of an aesthetic skin and laser clinic — comprehensive care under one roof.

General Practice

Accredited GPs providing comprehensive primary care for the Hawthorn East community. The parent HEMAC practice operates Monday–Friday 8:30 am–6:00 pm. For GP enquiries: info@hemac.com.au.

Allied Health

Allied health services including dietetics, provided under the same roof to support comprehensive patient care. Cancellation of allied health appointments requires 24 hours notice — a $25 fee may apply for late cancellations.

Aesthetic & Skin

Led by Dr Sherrie Chew — HEMAC's doctor-led cosmetic and laser service. Consultation-first, evidence-based, and open to patients across Melbourne's eastern suburbs. This is where aesthetics meets genuine medical oversight.

HEMAC acknowledges the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we work. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
